I’ve been working on a collaboration with the horribly talented Isla Gealach of Cheeky Pea for the last few days on this release, discounted by 25% as part of this round of the Stumblebum Brigade!

Isla made some mesh balloons, and I’ve animated the crap out of them. Perfect for spring and summer photos, and the balloons in the couples and friends poses are all transferable for easy use!

And if balloons aren’t your thing, these are also new at the Glitterati mainstore!

Milliner is a set of headwear poses, great for hats, but also not half bad for general use too. I hope you like!

There’s so much new Glitterati stuff, from both Pose Fair and Culture Shock, so I’m going to load it all into this post and get it out of the way!

CULTURE SHOCK 2012

Culture Shock is a great event, run by Chic Management, and is a whole sim full of awesome stuff. Here’s a direct TP to my spot at the sim!

This is my charity item at the fair, with proceeds to benefit Doctors Without Borders

This is a pose prop for up to 5 friends (and there’s a few poses that are unisex too, so can be used with males!) that includes the picnic bench with a texture change table cloth. It costs $200L.

But you know me, I’m a workaholic, so here’s a bunch of other new items that are exclusive to Culture Shock!

A friends pose with a sexy twist. Would work well for a lesbian couple, too, as something sexy that isn’t just HI I’M WEARING YOU LIKE A GLOVE.

Bitch is a 10 pose set with a little attitude. I hope you like them!

Cubed is a super low prim mesh pose prop, with 10 cute but almost editorial poses. It also texture changes, to nine different colours for inside the cube.

It also includes a really neat option that I’ve been playing with in my photos a lot recently – shadows from projected lighting. It’s really easy to set up in your viewer, works better than generic shadows from the sun, and this prop is a perfect way to test it out! (Though it does work fine without it, too!) Just follow the instructions in the notecard (or google projected lighting in SL to test out turning it on yourself) and there you go!

Cubed is my favourite thing I’ve made in a while, so I’m pretty excited about that!

These are mesh mermaid tails, and a set of underwater poses They can be used without each other too, by the way! The tails are in a whole bunch of different colours, and there are 10 underwater poses – better stock up in time for summer photos!

This is something that has been on my mind for a while, but I feel the need to make a decision about this, to have a weight off of my mind if nothing else.

Pose Fair as a concept began several years ago, when my friend Dove Swanson mentioned in a plurk something along the lines of “everything else gets a fair, why don’t we?!” – and from that one offhand comment she has probably forgotten making, here we are.

People view making poses as an easy way to slfame (lol) and fortune (lolol). There really isn’t a day that goes by where someone doesn’t say “Where can I download Poser? I fancy giving poses a try” somewhere I can see it. Some people pick it up and make beautiful work, but I think the intricacies of making poses are underestimated and undervalued. A natural looking pose that works with the avatar mesh, has the correct body weighting, and is unique and fun, is rare – when you find them, hit that subscribo hard!

The third annual Pose Fair has been a mixture of things, for me. A huge chunk of fun (spreadsheets are my crack), a bit of annoying if I’m being honest, and smothered in the kind of pride I have never felt for any other “job” I have done before.

My detractors say it’s badly organised, that I’m an elitist bitch and that I exclude people I dislike. For the first point, well I don’t know, they might be right. But you see, I’m a control freak and I like doing as much as I can handle by myself. I’m human, there are probably some things I fuck up, but on the whole it went pretty smoothly this year and I am fiercely proud of the job we have done – we, as in me, the people who helped me (most notably Hallie Galli, who I seriously would have gone batshit without) and the creators who busted ass to bring you the freshest poses and animations on the grid. Walk around – it’s absolutely incredible to see so much talent and creativity, and I am intimidated to even be among these amazing people.

As for elitist? Well, I really don’t think so – the only people we turned away from Pose Fair were people who applied literally the day before it opened. We had a waiting list, and I did my best to fit everyone in. I intentionally designed the layout to be fair, to scatter large vendors amongst everything else, and to give newer or lesser known stores a spot right next to some of the old hands at pose making, because what is the fair good for if not exposure?!

It has been amazing. We’ve seen great traffic, and I have had some really lovely messages from vendors who have been first timers at the fair – or any fair – and who have been so excited by the response to the products they poured their heart into. Linden Labs picked up the event for the first time, and the IM I had from Brett Linden asking if it could go into Destination Guide made my whole damn week.

I have a habit of holding onto things until they’re so far gone you can’t even see dust anymore. I really don’t want Pose Fair to be one of those things, so I have made the decision that this year is the last Pose Fair.

It has been a spectacular journey, and I am so honoured to have had so many beautiful people along for the ride. The month before Pose Fair is the most stressful one of my whole year, but I just don’t know where I’ll be a year from now, so I think it’s time to pull the plug on a high note.

To those who have helped me with the fair over the last three years – notably Shana, Trace, Anna, Sabra, Isla and Hallie, thank you so much for helping to put together something that has been so fantastic for so many people. Too often I take all of the credit but I don’t deserve it – thank you all very much.

To the vendors, past and present, who have put their trust in me to provide a fair worth their valuable time, I appreciate your support and I truly hope from the bottom of my heart that your business has benefitted through your participation in Pose Fair. It would be absolutely nothing if it were not for you – your creativity, talent and dedication to making the fair a success.

Most importantly, to the customers of Pose Fair, thank you for visiting, supporting us all, and being excited about it. There is truly nothing more wonderful to a creator in SL than someone whose imagination is sparked by something you have made, and as posers we are lucky to be able to see the results in your photographs. I think I speak for all the vendors at Pose Fair when I say that every single sale we make is an honour – that you see something useful or exciting in something we have made is just the best feeling in the world (that doesn’t involve ice cream or cats).

To the detractors? (Detractors is a much nicer word than haters). Thank you, as always, for making me such an important part of your day, and for continuing to spread the word!

To my friends, your faith and belief in me is mindblowing – I don’t think I’ll ever understand what you see in me that makes you want to keep me around, but for fucks sake don’t let that change your mind. Thank you most of all, for everything.

This post isn’t meant to evoke any feelings of any kind, though I’m sure some people will have some. I showed some posemaker friends this note, and they were so supportive and lovely, so I’m going to break the rules and out my girls here by thanking them – Luna, Bella, Ruby, Dove and Dorky, thank you so much for keeping me sane in the last few months, I feel like you’re colleagues rather than competition and it has been exciting to experience this fair with you all one last time.

I am sure someone else will develop an event for posers just like Pose Fair, and I wish you the best of luck if you do. If you would like to take over the event – ie, run a fair called Pose Fair, I would like it if you contacted me first, as there may be things I can do to help you, or someone else may have already bagged the use of that name.

New stuff at TKC today for FLF!

And this, by my sissybug!

Glitz is a new club opening soon on the Glitterati sim. I’ve missed hanging out in clubs but I always feel a bit awkward going to them – walking in, getting ignored, then if I tip anyone I get to third base with Hugetits0982435 Resident. Fuuuuun.

So now Glitz is happening. It won’t be like that. Our dancers will be fun and friendly and cute. If you tip them, they’ll just thank you. Our events will be themed and we hope you have as much fun dressing up for them as we do. They will run from 12pm – 8pm, Monday to Sunday.

Working at Glitz will be so much fun, too. We have a weekly staff meeting to get together and relax a bit, meet new staff, and new dancers who have completed our short training programme will “graduate” in front of everyone. Then we can all head over to the club together

DJs can either hop onto the schedule, or stay as a backup. Dancers need to sign up to host one two hour event per week, but other than that you can come and go as you please. We don’t want to make working at Glitz a requirement, or an extension of your busy RL. It’s meant to be fun and something that helps you relax. We get that, and we want to encourage you and widen your SL a little.

The project has been coming together for about a month now and we’re all having so much fun getting to know each other, but we’re definitely still hiring and probably always will be, so please do get in touch with the following people if you’d like to join our team!

If you’d like to be a dancer, IM Sabra Karu. She’s the dancer manager, and she’s responsible for interviewing, training and looking after you.

If you’re a DJ or musician and you’d love to fill our airwaves, Inuoko Shikami is your girl – and DJ Manager. She’ll interview you, listen to you, and get you onto the schedule, and if something comes up and you can’t make a shift, she’s got your back.

If either of those two are taking their thirty minutes a week of sleep and aren’t online, try Meldina Ashbourne – she’s the General Manager and she mops up spills and pats peoples hands and yells at me if I get stuff wrong, so like 90 times a day then really.

I know this has been long but I hope you’ve stuck with me. Glitz is going to be so much fun. It’ll probably never be the biggest club in SL, but that’s ok – it’ll definitely be the nicest place to be.
